Barbara Maleki – Lead Teacher/Science Teacher/ DSLWHAT MAKES US, US
Barbara
Lead Teacher/Science Teacher/ DSL
professional journey has always been guided by a deep commitment to science, education, and the holistic development of young people.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, a Master's in Biochemistry and Clinical Nutrition, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). She began her career in higher education, lecturing nursing students for over a decade. This phase not only deepened her understanding of human biology and health but also instilled in her the importance of tailored education that meets individual needs.
Following this, she worked in food safety standards before returning to her true calling—teaching. In 2013, she transitioned into secondary education, teaching Biology and Chemistry in both international and mainstream schools. Each setting brought unique insights and challenges, “but nothing compared to what I discovered when I joined Ellern Mede. We believe in the power of second chances. Here, mistakes aren’t setbacks—they are part of the learning journey. Our students are encouraged to try, reflect, and grow in a safe, supportive environment. Being part of their journey—watching them rebuild not just their academic skills but their belief in themselves—is a privilege. At Ellern Mede, I found not just a place to teach, but a place to make a real difference”. Barbara
