Helping children with SEMH needs aged 11 to 18 to flourish and thrive in a safe and secure setting.

Admissions criteria

Orange Tree School is an independent day school for children aged 11 - 18 with SEMH needs who require a more therapeutic, supportive and sensitive approach to their education. We welcome students who have needs due to social and emotional difficulties such as:

  • school refusal and phobia
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • obsessive compulsive disorders
  • other social, emotional and mental health issues; and
  • high functioning autism spectrum disorders.

Many of our students also have other associated needs such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Orange Tree School is NOT a school for children with behavioural issues and is NOT an independent special school.

We want to make our school as accessible as possible and also want to be transparent as we can about what the school offers and what are entry processes are. Whether you are a prospective parent who is interested in sending their child to the Orange Tree or you work for a Local Authority and recognise the demand for a school like the Orange Tree in your local area, please explore more about what we are about.
