What students do you cater for?
Our students are young people aged 11-18, who for various reasons, need a more therapeutic, supportive and sensitive approach to their education. We welcome students who have needs due to social or emotional difficulties such as:
- school refusal and phobia
- obsessive compulsive disorders
- other social, emotional and mental health issues; and
- high functioning autism spectrum disorders.
The Orange Tree School is NOT a school for children with behavioural issues.
How do I begin my application?
Anyone is welcome to make an enquiry to our admissions team, download our prospectus, arrange a visit to the school and attend one of our open events held throughout the year.
After this initial enquiry, you can make a formal application in the following ways:
- Those applying through the Private Pay route can apply directly through our website
- Those applying through the Local Authority route should get in contact with a member of our admissions team for further guidance
Is the Orange Tree a special school?
The Orange Tree School is NOT a special school (it is NOT approved under section 41 of the Children and Families Act). It is registered as “Other Independent School” and offers specialist education.
Do you have in-year admissions?
Yes! We offer year round admissions and would be happy to consider your application at any point throughout the academic year.
Do you have any open days or events?
Yes! We offer a series of events throughout the year from talks to open days. You can find out more about these events HERE

How does funding work?
Funding may be secured through the Local Authority if your child has an Education, Health and Care plan.
