Preparing our students for life outside of and beyond school is a cornerstone of our teaching and learning philosophy. One of our core tenets is “Unlocking every child’s potential” and this extends to how we equip young people in our care with the skills, resources, and experiences that they may need in order to navigate the complex, ever-changing landscape of the modern world. Though our students may be outside of a mainstream setting we believe this in no way narrows the wide range of future pathways where their own unique interests and abilities may take them.
A whole school approach
We take a whole school approach to careers and see it not as separate from the curriculum, but embedded within each subject’s scheme of work. The curriculum maps developed by subject leads take into account the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, integrating expertly crafted career guidance to pupils’ learning.
Careers guidance is complemented by the PSHE and Life Skills curriculum which provides students with a holistic education and the social, moral, and practical tools needed to live in the world at large.
